The Asian Rice Index (ARI) and the Asian Water Index (AWI) are based on data available at the time of their monthly calculation. Anomalies in  temperature,  precipitation and  sea levels are the main contributors to the changes in the indexes from month to month, because the underlying data for the other components generally do not change from month to month and/or are updated less frequently in the calculation of the indexes. The weighting of each component may change periodically. ARI was first published from 2021 and re-designed in 2023.
